Kew Country Club receives funding to build interactive Youth Golf Academy

by Laura Telford A state of the art junior golf facility will be built at Kew Country Club and is hoped to continue to foster the talents of local, rising stars. The project will deliver infrastructure to Kew Country Club to provide an interactive Youth Golf Academy building on their already successful North Coast Junior Masters competition. The $126,000 project was announcement on February 28 with funds coming from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and the Kew Country Club. Kew Country Club general manager Rob Dwyer said it was a very exciting day for the community of Kew and the whole of the Camden Haven. “We are so excited to have received this grant to build the facility,” Mr Dwyer said. + Read more

Around 25 youngsters made their own sushi during a Junior Masterchef session at the Laurieton United Services Club (LUSC) on Thursday, January 2. Mr Bird who coordinates a team of five chefs and four cooks at LUSC said making sushi is not a complicated process, but you can muck it up a million ways. “Sushi is definitely more popular with the kids than what I thought it would be,” he said. read more +

The annual New Year’s Eve celebration at Laurieton United Services Club has raised more than $6500

– by Robert Dougherty​More than $6500 has been raised for NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers during a New Year’s Eve celebration in Laurieton. Around six-hundred State Emergency Services (SES), RFS volunteers and their families were treated to dinner at Laurieton United Services Club (LUSC) instead of the annual fireworks display on Tuesday, December 31. The event was featured three bands, childrens rides and was achieved with a community grant from the Rotary Club of Laurieton. The Rotary Club of Laurieton director of community service Alan Anderson said the team had done their duty to support the community. “Everyone coming through on the gate was very supportive of suspending the fireworks and diverting the money to the RFS,” he said. read more +

The club hosted family entertainment which included a jumping castle, lamington eating contest and boot throwing game.
