The golf course maintenance team has been hard at work over the past two weeks, completing several projects to improve our course. We have successfully installed 150m of drainage on the high side of the fairway on hole 18 to ensure better playing conditions. Additionally, all greens have been aerated using solid tines for enhanced turf health. In terms of irrigation, new wiring has been installed on hole 3 and a sprinkler has been added to the vets tee on hole 1. This will help ensure consistent watering for optimal course conditions. Furthermore, work is in progress to create two pads for the installation of 100,000l water tanks. These tanks, located at the back of the cart shed and on hole 6, will significantly increase water storage capacity, especially during dry periods. Our dedicated team of volunteer gardeners has been maintaining the wash-bay area beautifully, adding to the overall appeal of our facilities. The putt putt area is also seeing progress, with a variety of plants being planted to enhance the putt putt experience for our visitors. With these ongoing improvements and maintenance efforts, we are committed to providing a top-notch golfing experience for our members and guests.

The Military Veterans Golf Challenge, scheduled for Sun 02 Jun, has been postponed. The decision to reschedule the event to Sun 20 Oct was made in light of the forecast predicting heavy rainfall that could affect the course conditions and the overall experience for participants. The RSL Sub Branch, along with LUSC and KCC, decided to err on the side of caution to ensure a successful and enjoyable event for all involved. Rescheduling the event will prevent any last-minute cancellations due to inclement weather, which could inconvenience traveling participants and affect catering arrangements. The aim is to provide a memorable experience for both members and visitors, and postponing the event will allow for better planning and preparation to deliver a top-notch Golf Day on the new date. While the decision may disappoint some, it was made with the best interests of everyone involved in mind. The organizers are committed to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants, and by rescheduling the event, they aim to create a positive and successful experience for the Military Veterans’ Golf Day 2024. Join us at Kew Country Club for our exciting annual Festival of Golf from Monday the 10th of June until Saturday the 15th June 2024! The festival offers a variety of competitions for golf enthusiasts with an entry fee of $25 per event. Competitions include the $2000 Off the White Tees Medley 4p Modified Ambrose, Men and Women’s Medley Stableford, Women’s Single Stableford, Men’s Single Medley Stableford, Medley in 3 Divisions, and a Men and Women’s Stroke Event in 3 Divisions with a prize pool of $12,500. Some general rules to keep in mind are that there should be no groups of 2 in any events with a minimum of 3 players per group. Junior scorecards must be marked by an adult and there are NTP prizes for each event. Ladies are instructed to tee off the Red Markers for the tournaments. This week we hosted the Men’s Division 4 state pennant finals, the final was contested between Wallerawang and Kew with Kew coming out as champions 39 – 36 Kew Country Club Congratulations to all the teams that came from across the state to participate.
